After two years of cancellation, the organizer is looking forward to welcoming old and new participants to the World Gravel Fishing Championship.
One of the world’s largest fishing competitions, the traditional event attracts thousands of people and creates a bustling atmosphere in the city, with the focus on cod. The event is a combination of angling competition, festivities, concerts and lots of good food and drink. The entire town of Svolvær is turned upside down this weekend, with various events, concerts and a lot of people in the streets and at the nightclubs.
The fishing competition itself consists of the Lofoten Cup on Friday and the World Championship on Saturday. Approximately 600 participants take part in the angling competitions.
