Norwegian Fishing Village Museum

Welcome to Å; at the E 10, the end station of the King's Road.

Here you will find the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, one of the best preserved and complete old fishing villages in all of Norway. The main theme of the museum is life in the fishing village from approx. 1840 to 1960, and the development of the Lofoten fishery over the past 250 years. Visit several buildings with varied exhibitions: boathouse, cod liver oil factory, smallholding, smithy, post office, fisherman’s cabin and bakery.

  • In the bakery from 1844, you can taste several types of traditional bread and cinnamon buns.
  • The “old shop” is full of travel memorabilia, books, fishing equipment… in addition to regular groceries.
  • Open all year round, and here you buy a ticket to the museum, which is also open all year round.
  • Guiding in Norwegian, English and Spanish, in the summer also in other languages. Guiding from 15 to 60 minutes, as desired.
  • Many people prefer to stroll around on their own after initial information.
  • The service building at the parking lot (through the tunnel) has a large selection of souvenirs, clothes and books. Open 1. June–1. September, but with year-round open toilets.
