Lofoten Aquarium

At the Lofoten Aquarium, you can learn about the Lofoten cod – or cod. You can also experience seals and otters up close.

Cod and other fish, shellfish and marine animals

Skrei is the name of the East Atlantic cod that migrates from the Barents Sea to Lofoten every winter to spawn, and is the basis for the Lofoten fishery in winter. From the cod, we produce stockfish and salted fish, and it has been one of the most important food fish in Europe for centuries. At the Lofoten Aquarium you can also study most of the other fish species, shellfish and sea creatures found in the waters around Lofoten.

Exhibition and cages with salmon

In addition, guests can experience an exhibition on coexistence in the sea areas with information about fisheries, aquaculture and oil and gas activities in Norway. There are also separate cages with salmon in the sea where you can see farming up close.

Join us when we feed seals and otters

At Lofoten Aquarium we have a pool with seals, and a separate enclosure for otters. One of the highlights of a visit to the Lofoten Aquarium is the feeding of the seals and otters.
