Galleri Espolin manages and presents a unique art collection by Kaare Espolin Johnson.
In addition to the permanent collection exhibitions, Galleri Espolin shows art exhibitions with other artists from time to time.
Continuously during the gallery’s opening hours, the film “The Life and Work of Espolin” is shown. This is a documentary film where we meet the artist Kaare Espolin Johnson in conversation with the visual artist and researcher Oddrun Sæther. Espolin Johnson talks about her conditions as severely visually impaired, about her childhood and her sources of inspiration from inner Finnmark and from coastal culture in Nordland. The film lasts 34 minutes.
Gallery Espolin has an art shop with specially produced souvenirs and local handicrafts. Here you will also find original graphics by the artist for sale.
Group visits outside opening hours can be arranged.
Galleri Espolin is part of the upcoming SKREI Experience Center and is located a short walking distance to the Lofoten Museum and the Lofoten Aquarium. All three can be experienced with a joint ticket.
