Leknes is the biggest town in municipality of Vestvågøy.

Vestvågøy is also Lofoten's most populous area, with it's approx. 11000 inhabitants. Leknes is located geographically in the center of Lofoten, 68km west of Svolvær and about 65 km east of Å. The hospital in the neighboring town of Gravdal is a small but modern hospital that serves the inhabitans of Lofoten. Vestvågøy is one of Norways largest agricultural communities.
