Henningsvær, the place God had built without the help of surveyors and architects. Welcome to Norway’s most famous and distinctive fishing village, by many referred to as the Venice of the North.
Henningsvær is spread across a number of islands, with breakwaters and dikes bringing the fishing village together. The inhabitants were dependent on a ferry until 1982, when two bridges were built, linking the community with the rest of Austvågøya.
Henningsvær is a vibrant community with a school, shops, hotels, rorbu cabins and restaurants. Industrial activity in Henningsvær is largely based on fishing and tourism.
