Ballstad is an authentic fishermen village, and has Europe's largest mural of approximately 2000 m².
Ballstad is located on the southern tip of Vestvågøy in Lofoten in the Vestfjorden basin. The village is sheltered from the large ocean waves by several large and smaller islands. Ballstad has been a fishing village for perhaps as long as 1000 years, and the place is still an active fishing village with a large fishing fleet, and also has a mechanical workshop and dock.
