This year, as last year, a participant limit of 600 people has been set. In total there will be over 70 boats and participants from over 10 different nations. When ticket sales opened on 20 October 2016, according to the organiser, over 200 tickets were bought after just 30 minutes.
The cod fishing world championship is organized by the Vågan Boat and Sea Fishing Association, together with a whole range of partners and sponsors.
The world championship weekend, as it is also called, is an event rich in tradition that offers many experiences and not least a very social affair. In recent years, the festivities, food and entertainment have taken up a significantly larger part of the event as a whole. A combination of this will create memories for the rest of your life.
The cod fishing world championship will be organized with the Lofoten Cup on Friday 24 and the World Championship itself on Saturday 25 March.
