Nesten helt oppe på Store Korsnestind i Raftsundet

Climbing Store Korsnestind at Raftsundet

Store Korsnestind (883 m) is located close to Store Trolltind and offers panoramic views straight towards Trakta and Rulten.

The fact that the mountain was not climbed in winter made the choice easy for Signar Andre Nilsen and his hiking companions Julia Fieler and Kristian Vindvik, who climbed the mountain on January 8, 2016. January 8, 2016.

Store Korsnestind was first climbed by Schjelderup, Grøndahl, Hanssen & Quale from the west face back in 1922. Since then, it has hardly had many visitors.

Signar arrived at Digermulen Brygge late in the evening to a fully heated apartment, and a boat set out on the sea/sea ice.

Great service!

With only 4-5 hours of real daylight available and minus fourteen degrees in the air, the ambition was to find the easiest way to the top, says Signar to Lofoten.com.

At the top, the climbers were greeted by a snow-covered cairn, and they could see the outline of all the peaks around them in the dark, as it was starry and completely windless.

Signar describes the experience as fantastically beautiful and goes on to say;

– The Digermulen lit up far below and I imagine that we could see the lights on the other side of the Vestfjord. The cocoa and a frozen marzipan sausage tasted great! A good half hour was spent at the top before it was time to come down.

We followed the edge carefully downwards, and made our way down to the 1*60 abseil, partly free-hanging. We slid down the channel until it flattened out, and then made our way down to the flat where the poop was duly distributed and followed the tracks down to the boat again. It was 8 o’clock in the evening, and the boat trip over to the pier was a somewhat cold pleasure. A Christmas plate with Christmas soda and a perpetually warm shower were definitely not out of place.

I would again like to praise Digermulen Brygge, which has large hot water tanks.
