Røst Paradiset in the far south of Lofoten

Røst is a fishing and bird paradise at the far end of Lofoten.

The 365 islands that make up Røst are approx. 100 km from the mainland and approx. 25 km from the neighboring island of Værøy. The highest point on Røstlandet itself, where the vast majority of Røst residents live, is only 11 meters above sea level. The highest mountain on Røst is Storfjellet, which rises 259 meters above sea level. Røst is known for its bird cliffs and the many bird species that can be observed in the archipelago. Among other things, tens of thousands of puffins nest every year in the mountains of Røst.

Every winter, during the famous Lofoten fishery, Røst is buzzing with life as much of the catch is delivered to the many reception centres on the island. Anglers have also gradually opened their eyes to the fishing opportunities that many believe are world-class.

In Røstlandet you will find both primary and secondary schools, restaurants, kindergarten, youth club, swimming pool, multi-activity hall, health center, bank and post office. There are daily flights to Bodø.

The people of Røst are known for their hospitality all the way back to the year 1432 when the Italian trader Pietro Querini and his crew were stranded on Røst. Even today, visitors are well received on Røst and more and more people want to experience this string of pearls with islands furthest out in the ocean gap in Lofoten.
