Ballstad The great fishing village
Ballstad is an authentic and vibrant fishing village, and has one of Europe’s largest murals of approx. 3000 m².
Ballstad is nestled on the southern tip of Vestvågøy in Lofoten, at the far end of the Vestfjord.
The fishing village is sheltered from the sea by several large and small islands.
Ballstad has both a kindergarten and a primary and secondary school.
"Never did I see such fresh colors! The white fountains in the blue mountains and the green as juicy as green. In luminous spots and rays, the reflection is thrown back by the quiet fjord. It is a picture of a fairy-tale fantasy; this must be the place where the princess was enchanted."
Bildekunstner Theodor Kittelsen om Kræmmervika på Ballstad, 1890
