Bike in Lofoten
Our region is ideal for cycling. Many start in Svolvær, and make the trip west, for most the trip is not over until you get to Å.
The distance from Svolvær to Å is about 140 km. The route passes idyllic fishing villages and towns. A detour to Henningsvær, one of the most special fishing villages is recommended, the same applies to Nusfjord in Flakstad municipality. Hadseløya and the surrounding Andøya provide fantastic cycling experiences in the rugged nature and are highly recommended.
If it seems cumbersome to bring the bike all the way to our region, there are several locations which rent out bikes. These locations can also recommend day stages, nice bike paths and accommodation.
Northern Norway can not normally offer long hot summer months, so you must be prepared for everything from headwinds, tailwinds and sun to fog and rain on one and the same trip. An experience in itself.
The roads in the region wind mostly along the sea. One therefore avoids the tiring mountain passes. With the sound of waves, white sandy beaches, the smell of salty sea, stockfish, midnight sun and seagull cries as a backdrop, you are guaranteed a trip full of experiences.
